The most dangerous thing we can hand an ambitious woman is language designed to keep her small. The most powerful thing we can give her back is her own voice

Tamara to Your Stage
Each talk is drawn from nearly 30 years of organizational strategy, HR leadership, and the lived experience of building at the intersection of soul and systems.
The Language of Ambition

From Boardroom to Bloom
2
The companion talk to the forthcoming book. A deeply personal keynote about what it costs to build in systems that weren't designed for you — and what becomes possible when you stop optimizing for a room that was never built in your image. Soul-level strategy for the women who are building something that outlasts a title.

AI, Ethics & the Human in the Room
3
As organizations race to deploy AI, the people most at risk of being excluded from the governance conversation are the same ones most at risk from its outcomes. This keynote makes AI governance accessible, urgent, and deeply human — drawing on Tamara's work in AI governance facilitation and BSH's decision rights architecture framework.

About Tamara
Nearly 30 Years.
One Consistent North Star.
Tamara Burks spent nearly three decades inside the rooms where organizational power is decided — as a senior talent leader at PwC, as a strategist building people infrastructure for institutions navigating growth and transformation, and as the founder of Burks Strategic Holdings, Inc., a multi-brand holding company operating at the intersection of strategy, technology, and soul.
Her work has always been about the same question: What does it cost people — and specifically women of color — to operate inside systems that weren't built with them in mind? The answer showed up in the language. In the phrases organizations hand their employees like gifts, that are actually constraints. In the words ambitious women use about themselves, borrowed from frameworks designed for someone else.
Words That Wilt™ is Tamara's answer to 30 years of watching that happen. The Language Audit™ is the tool. The keynote is the invitation. The workshop is the transformation.
She is also the creator of the BSH AI Governance Framework, the author of From Boardroom to Bloom (forthcoming), and the Managing Partner of a holding company whose ventures span consulting, luxury experiences, mobility, and publishing. She is based in Tampa Bay and Miami, and speaks nationally and virtually.
Topic Pillars
The Ideas at the Center
of Every Talk
Tamara's keynotes are not motivational speeches. They are strategic frameworks grounded in organizational research, lived experience, and nearly 30 years of watching how language shapes outcomes for women in professional spaces.
Pillar 1
Language & Professional Identity
The words we use about ourselves, and our work are not neutral — they are either inherited or chosen. This pillar examines which phrases have moved into professional vocabularies without permission, and what it takes to reclaim the language of ambition.
Pillar 2
Organizational Systems & Belonging
Institutions are not neutral either. Their cultures, advancement frameworks, and HR language were largely built by and for a specific kind of person. This pillar examines what it means to build belonging — not as a program, but as a systems design challenge.
Pillar 3
AI Governance & Human Dignity
As organizations deploy AI, the governance decisions being made right now will determine who benefits and who bears the risk. This pillar makes that conversation accessible, urgent, and deeply human — bringing the people most affected into the room where decisions are made.
Pillar 4
Sovereignty, Strategy & Soul
The core BSH philosophy — that ambition and soul are not in tension, that strategy and spirit can occupy the same room, and that building a business on your own terms requires first knowing what those terms actually are. This pillar is the spine of From Boardroom to Bloom.
What Audiences Say
The Room After Tamara Speaks
Is Never the Same
“Tamara didn’t give us a pep talk. She gave us a mirror. I left that room having identified three phrases I’d been using for a decade that were quietly limiting every decision I made. That’s rare work.”
“What sets Tamara apart is that she’s not performing this work. She’s lived it — in the rooms, in the organizations, in the moments where language shaped who got to advance and who didn’t. That credibility comes through in every minute of her keynote.”
“Our Women’s Initiative had been searching for a facilitator who understood the specific landscape our members navigate — not just ‘women in leadership’ in the abstract, but the actual language and culture of professional services. Tamara’s PwC background and the depth of the framework she’s built made her the only person who could have delivered this session.”
“I’ve attended hundreds of women’s leadership events. This was the first one where I left with a specific, actionable thing to change — a word I was retiring, and the language I was choosing instead. The audit format is genius. It makes the abstract personal.”
